Essential Ranger Bows
Hello, was just wondering, what bows do you use? State your full set of bows
(in a side note, you can boast about your favorite skins ^^)
For my part:
-Poisonous Recurve bow of Fortitude (Eternal Bow skin - use it for everything in general
-Poisonous Longbow of Fortitude (Stormbow skin - for when theyre running away or for luring )
-Zealous Flatbow of Fortitude (Ironwing Flatbow - for Barraging)
-Crippling Recurve/Long Bow of Fortitude (for GvG)

Recurve Bows- 15^50 poisonous, barbed, vamp, +5e crippling, silencing
Longbow-20/20 sund. 15^50 and crippling
Hornbow-15^50 vamp (rspike goes pewpewpew)
Flatbow-15/-5e vamp (NPCs, etc)--> barrage with a flatbow is retarded, you're actually slowing down your attack speed
Shortbow-Zealous, Poisonous, Vamp

Sorry, to be a little offtopic, but this is interesting - ive been playing ranger for a long, long time, and ive always seen in guides and stuff that Zealous Flatbow are the best for barraging... So why not a flatbow?

Really depends on the build that you run. As I usually run interrupt my primary bow is:
Silencing Half Moon of Fortitude, I also run:
Sundering Celestial Longbow of Fortitude (My absolute favourite skin still...)
Zealous Storm Bow of Fortitude
Drago's Flatbow
Silencing Dead Bow of Enchanting
Sundering Dead Bow of Fortitude

Crippling Tormented Recurve Bow of Fortitude(15^50) - Cripshotting & Interrupting, 15^50 for the extra damage since my energy NEVER falls dangerously low.(Second best bow skin EVER!)
Vampiric Storm Bow of Fortitude - Destruction of NPC's. (<3 StormBow, best bow skin EVER!)
Vampiric Dragon Hornbow of Fortitude - RangerSpike, except i don't play that anymore.(Third best bow skin EVER!)
Don't use Shortbow nor Flatbow.

I have the exact same bow and also use it for general situations.
But other than that, I have:
An Ebon Recurve Bow of Enchanting for when I run Ebon Dust Aura
Some insightful staff that gives 18 energy for when I go trapping (which I don't do these days >.>)
And Split Chakrams of the Forgotten for when I want to mess around as a R/A

Bows I use the most on my ranger:
Silencing Tengu Recurve Bow of Fortitude, +5e
Crippling Skull Recurve Bow of Fortitude, +5e
Vah's Hornbow (vamp)
Nundak's Recurve Bow (poison)
Forgotten Shortbow (bleeding, for Screaming Shot + Signet of Infection)
I rarely ever go Barrage, but if I do I use either Ironwing Flatbow or Drago's Flatbow.
I have a few longbows (Celestial, Zodiac, Urgoz) but I almost never use them. Just keep them because they're pretty.

B/p I use a Zealous Flat or Longbow, I hate being closed to the battle being Far distance wont have to worry about it. In other builds use Recurve bow.

Ebon Norn Recurve Bow of Enchanting (+5e) for EDA
Ebon Mursaat Recurve Bow of Fortitude (+15^50) for EDA (prolly my most common used build)
Poisonous Undead Recurve Bow of Fortitude (15^50) for general use with AP
Saushali's Recurve (+5e +33%Daze +30 , Dead Bow Skin) for BHA
Elswyth's Vamp Recurve
Ironwing Longbow (Vamp) General use but really for the skin not the performance
Mindclouder
Still to make up a few new one which I also have but the skins suck

What's EDA?
I have so many bows but only use a select few:
-Silencing Recurve Bow of Fortitude (+15%^50%) - for Broad Head Arrow
-Zealous Longbow of Fortitude (+15%^50%) - for Barrage
-Crippling Recurve Bow of Fortitude (+15%^50%) - For Crippling Shot.
Edit: EDA = Ebon Dust Aura. /smackself

1)Poisonous Recurve of Defense, +5E (Sturdy skin, one of my favorites)
2)Vampiric Hornbow of Enchanting, +15% enchanted. I am still looking for a Zealous string for this one. This is my old (pre-Factions) and trusty Judge's Barrage bow, I recently moved it back from the attic to my inventory to play around with the recent buffs. I Like this skin as well.
3)Ebon Recurve of Defense, +15^50 mostly to have around for Ebon Dust or elemental damage (Ascalon bow skin, meh)
4)Vampiric Flatbow of Defense, +15^50 mostly for pulling (feathered bow skin, another one of my favorites)
Have various other bows for special occasions (including a blankets-bow), none used too often.

Actually flat- and shortbows seem to be better for use with barrage as far as refire speed is concerned, though the difference is smaller as when not using a skill like barrage. But Flatbows (without RtW or FW) do not do too well for the occasional interrupt you might want to toss in even when using Barrage

Crippling/Poisonous/Silencing/Barbed Recurve bows of fortitude, 15^50 (with at least crippling and poisonous in +5e versions as well).
Recurves are a mainstay for most builds, and the prefix is dependant on what conditions you're causing. You could probably get away without the Barbed bow, but it's a switch-in if you're ever running Barbed Arrows over Apply.
The other bow I like is a Vampiric Flatbow, 15^50, for dealing with NPCs.
If you're gonna run RSpike or something similar, a Vamp Hornbow is a given too.

Main bow - Sundering Tormented Shortbow of Fortitude (I confess, I bought it - was using Ashlyn's Shortbow before that)
Also carry - Urgoz's Flatbow - used mostly when there's Favourable Winds
Vampiric Azure Shortbow - not used much
Urgoz's Longbow - also not used much.
I have lots of other bows in storage.
For those who are wondering - I use a Shortbow mainly because most of the time I am doing the Heroes & Henchie thing. I usually use an MM and 2 ranger heroes (with shortbows) with 2 henchie monks and 2 other henchies (usually a mix of rangers, mesmer, rit, or paragon). The henchies (other than rangers) all attack (including the monks) and attack at a closer range than a longbow or flatbow. If I (and the heroes) used flatbows or longbows, this puts the henchies "out front" where they can take the brunt of any ranged attack that gets past the minions. By using a shortbow, I'm in the same range as the henchies and can protect them better. It also fires fastest and can interrupt very well.
EDIT - P.s. I carry 2 flatbows in my inventory for the Heroes, when appropriate. (like certain HM areas)
